There is No App for Happiness

There Is No App for HappinessThis is the title of Max Strom’s new book. I’d like to share his message here because it’s time to examine how we’re living and it’s time to choose happiness.

We live with our mind in a storm and we call it normal, but we know it isn’t. Technology is expanding at such a rate that nearly every aspect of our world has been affected — yet there has been no corresponding expansion of personal happiness.  Instead, we find that the wealthiest societies of the world have become anxious, sleep deprived, depressed, and over-medicated.

In his new book. There is No APP for Happiness, Max describes how constant bombardment by entertainment and “everything all the time” is eroding our personal awareness, fueling the dysfunction that leads us to the current “New Normal,” entertained but unhappy.

Max Strom’s book and teachings introduce us to three imperatives to reawaken to a new state of consciousness and the daily experience of a meaningful life.  These are the internal human technologies he has shared with tens of thousands of people across the world in his sold out seminars and workshops.

Game Changer

I was eight months into my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training course, and ready to quit. I loved the practices but the teachings seemed too dogmatic. It was right at this critical moment that I met my mentor and soul sister, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. What was the game changer? It was when she played a Beatles song right in the middle of our yoga practice. It was so foreign to play anything other than Sanskrit or Ghurmeki mantras that I was blown away. I was surprised but also reconnected to what I found in yoga. It reminded me why I had started my journey in the first place…to bring me back to joy.

I’m honoured to be hosting Gurmukh at Semperviva this weekend. She has kept me on the path of yoga and inspires me to never quit…to never give up, ever!

Come dance, sing, sweat and reconnect to joy, http://www.semperviva.com/events/gurmukh-kaur-khalsa/

Breakdown or Breakthrough?

Breakdown or breakthrough? What’s it going to be? It’s up to you to decide.

When things intensify, breathe deeply, steady yourself and remember that you don’t grow in your comfort zone so you are being pushed to the edge for a reason.

This is when you need to decide you want to fly.

“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We’re afraid.”
“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We will fall!”
“Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And she pushed them.
And they flew.

Guillaume Apollinaire, 1880-1918

Your Truth

TruthYour truth is simply that…”your” truth.

Or maybe it’s only just “your” opinion.

Saying it louder, saying it stronger, doesn’t make it more true.

At the end of the day, it is still only “your” truth or “your” opinion.

Ask yourself, “do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?”

Today I choose and pray for peace.

It’s Now Tomorrow

You know that thing you were going to get started on tomorrow…it’s now tomorrow!

Every time you let yourself down, you train yourself that you don’t matter.

When is your life going to start being important to you?

If you allow yourself to live your best, most fulfilling life, you give permission to others to do the same.

The time is now.

Relax Fast!

How much of your energy is tied up in what happened yesterday? Drop it, let go and relax fast.

You don’t know what is coming next and how will you be ready for it, if all your energy is tied up in yesterday?

There is nothing you can do about yesterday.

Dragging yesterday into today will ruin your tomorrow. Learn how to relax quickly. The minute you find your breath become erratic, figure out why, and then drop it. Don’t tie your energy up in what is already over.

Relax fast, and be ready for life.
