Workshop with Reno this weekend

A two part Yoga workshop with a focus on Vinyasa Yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Yoga Sutras. Part 1: Strength and Stillness The focus of this workshop is to strengthen the foundations of your vinyasa practice. Learn how to develop a strong home practice and explore the roots of yogic philosophy from the Bhagavad Gita and Pantajali's Yoga Sutras. Study and understand the therapeutic value of sirsasana (headstand) and sarvangasana (shoulderstand). Learn to sequence them properly, and cultivate proper alignment to facilitate longer holds. Pre-requisites: a basic knowledge of standing poses such as warrior poses and surya namaskar (sun salutations) Reading: Bring and familiarize yourself with Barbara Stoler Miller's translation of the Bhagavad Gita. Part 2: Revealing the Heart of Freedom Backbending and Arm Balancing this workshop will explore more challenging asana learn an effective handstand practice without fear, injury or ego learn to "float" based on the method of vinyasa krama use backbends to encourage opening of the heart in the physical, emotional and spiritual body develop a basic understanding of the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras, and come to understand the role they play on the path of yoga Pre-requisites: a basic knowledge of standing poses such as warrior poses and surya namaskar (sun salutations) practicing urdhva dhanurasana and handstand against the wall Reading: Bring and familiarize yourself with Barbara Stoler Miller's translation of the Bhagavad Gita, and Mukunda Stile's translation of the Yoga Sutras.
