What really causes heartache July 17th,2019

Do you have the hard conversations with your loved ones? You know, the ones where you express your truest desires, set healthy boundaries, and say the words that must be said….

Only those must-have conversations take place only in your head…The words never actually make it out of your mouth and into their ears.

Or maybe the words do make it out…

Instead of a face-to-face, heart-to-heart conversation, it’s a heated text exchange…you fire back and forth at each other, in a destined-to-fail attempt to resolve important issues.

But texting is just how it’s done these days, right? Maybe to remind someone to pick up a gallon of milk, definitely not for relationship-impacting issues.

Why? Because your texts can be cold and cryptic, and so can your partner’s. It’s one of the worst forms of communication for deep issues.

Why is it so hard to have these conversations…about love, relationships, boundaries, desires…in the right way?

Because expressing what’s in your heart is allowing yourself to be fully seen.

It takes a lot of courage to express what’s in your heart.

When you speak from courage, you can’t hide behind texting any longer. And you can’t carry on conversations in your head only to freeze when it comes to having them in real life.

Allowing yourself to be fully seen through healthy self-expression is how you build relationships based on your truth. And this is a key step in learning to Heal Your Heart.

Heartache is a result of not being true to yourself in your relationships. When you constantly hide who you are solely to please others, you build relationships on a stack of lies.

Your need to be liked and accepted is a powerful driving force for your behaviours. It takes courage to risk being seen for who you really are.
