When we’re feeling wounded, even the word “love” can sound like a profanity.
Love is not absent, it is yours to give. The minute you start to give, it flows back to you.
If you’re feeling hardened by life, and your heart is shut down, it is difficult for anyone to reach you, even with the sweetest words. Think of all the people in your life that love and care for you. It’s not all about that one special person; it’s about all the special people in your life. Yes, we’ve all suffered traumatic events, break ups, and let downs but it’s up to us to create change.
If others aren’t being loving towards you perhaps you need to look at your behaviours towards others. How often do you tell the people in your life how much you care for them? Does the word “hate” show up considerably more in your vocabulary than the word “love”, or even “like?” Do you neglect your friends, have you called your mother lately, did you even feed your cat?
To get more love in your life, give more. It is a renewable, inexhaustible resource.
Start with kindness, kindness to yourself. If you can’t master that, then what have you got to give to anyone else? When we begin to treat ourselves with greater care, we are far more able to give. Give more, and soon enough by the law of karma, more love will flow towards you. It is inevitable.
